Good writing, just like good research, needs to be user-centered. As a writer, I work within the constraints dictated by the project: the amount of space on a page, the client’s timeframe, and the technical specifications of the job. But within those constraints, I am intently focused on the audience for my text. Who is going to be reading? What do they want to learn or achieve with the text? How does the text fit into a broader context of my client’s products? By letting these questions lead my writing, I create writing that engages readers and helps them on their journeys.
